Responsibilities
· Lead technical center’s chemical management program for all business units and use of internal resources and tools.
· With reference to Environmental and Health & Safety Frameworks - coordinate with, and provide direction to, Element Champions/Owners, R&D Lab Managers and Research Scientists.
· Develop and drive a strong chemical management program to prevent chemical control non-compliances. Investigate and provide practical solutions to the causes of non-compliances, if they occur.
· Provide practical and technical support for the design and construction of a dedicated on-site chemical store.
· Lead the process change to transfer unused chemicals from labs to the new chemical store.
· Oversee technical center chemical handling personnel in the management of chemical inventory management program.
· Review all New Chemical Registration applications and liaise with the R&D Lab Managers/Research Scientists.
· Drive the implementation of initiatives to ensure chemical importation & exportation control compliance.
· Oversee the hazard identification testing of chemicals prior to sample shipping.
· Follow corporate chemical management program developments, and coordinate closely with Global Research's Chemical Management Leader in the US and other chemical program leaders globally.
· Maintain a strong awareness of Chinese and global chemical regulations
· Internally communicate changes in regulations and provide recommendations for the development of chemical management program to ensure continued compliance.
· Meet with government agencies.
· Perform chemical management and compliance audits.
· Complete other tasks as designated by the EHS Leader.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in chemistry or related, preferably with a masters degree.
- Minimum of five years relevant experience in chemical operations, ideally in an R&D facility.
- Solid execution and communications skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong willingness to professionally develop.
- Fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese.
