恒生银行于1933年创立，以香港及中国内地为业务重心，并为超逾三分之一的香港市民提供服务。
本行在香港设有一百四十四家分行与自助理财中心，以及十三家商务理财中心；在澳门设有一家分行；在中国内地则设有十五个业务据点，包括七家分行（位于北京、上海、广州、东莞、深圳、福州及南京）、七家支行（五家在上海、一家在广州及一家在深圳）及一家代表处（位于厦门）。本行在台北亦设有办事处。
恒生银行在2004年5月以现金总额人民币十七亿二千六百万元〔约港币十六亿二千六百万元〕购入兴业银行15.98%的股权。
截至2006年6月30日，本行之集团总资产为港币六千二百八十三亿元，而2006年上半年及2005年全年之股东应得溢利，则分别为港币六十二亿元及港币一百一十三亿元。
Founded in 1933, HANG SENG BANK focuses its business on the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and mainland China markets. The Bank serves more than one-third of the population in Hong Kong.
The Bank operates 144 branches and automated banking centres and 13 Business Banking Centres in Hong Kong; a branch in Macau; and a network of 15 mainland China outlets, including seven branches (in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Dongguan, Shenzhen, Fuzhou and Nanjing), seven sub-branches (five in Shanghai, one in Guangzhou and one in Shenzhen) and one representative office (in Xiamen). The Bank also has a representative office in Taipei.
In May 2004, Hang Seng acquired a 15.98% stake in Industrial Bank for RMB1.726 billion (HK$1.626 billion).
With consolidated assets of HK$628.3 billion as at 30 June 2006, the Bank reported a profit attributable to shareholders of HK$6.2 billion for the first six months of 2006, and HK$11.3 billion in 2005.
