SUMMARY: To support, maintain and enhance SunSystems products, such that market expectations and customer requirements are satisfied and often exceeded. Provide the infrastructural support R&D requires to build software that has global reach and delivery, low risk, and low total cost of ownership.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• In addition to the duties and responsibilities outlined below, the person filling the role will be required to perform other duties assigned by the Manager from time to time.
• Own the production of MS SQL Server Upgrade scripts, either writing or providing assistance, to ensure that the full upgrade path is obtained for all database changes.
• Own the MS SQL Server Upgrade projects.
• Provide MS SQL Server assistance to R&D and other areas of the company as required.
• Provide onsite assistance with new upgrades to SU Personnel worldwide, both in doing the upgrades and spreading the knowledge from R&D to SU offices around the world.
• To liaise closely with the following areas: -
• Principal Data Architect.
• Oracle Development DBA
• Data Services.
• Build & Release.
• International Support Centre.
• Professional Services
• Technology Architecture.
• Technical Architecture Manager.
• To be proactive in assessing all aspects of the database new and old, including the use of views, stored procedures and triggers. This is to be done for performance and ease of maintenance.
• To be aware of all new developments to ensure that there is no conflict when projects are merged in together.
• To research and investigate new uses of the above technologies in meeting customer's needs; both internal and external.
• To research and investigate the use of new technologies within the Data Services team and R&D at large to meet customer's needs.
• To acquire and use knowledge of the SunSystems product and its technologies where appropriate.
• To conform to ISO9001 standards when carrying out all of the above duties.
