Man dies in accident near Manildra

There are stop-slow conditions in placein both directions near Healeys Road, about 10 kilometres west of Manildra.

Earlier diversions have now beeen liftedbetween Parkes and Manildra atEugowra Road and The Escort Way.

Emergency services and council crews remain on site as an investigationand clean up continues.

Motorists are advised to exercise cautionand continue to allow additional travel time.

FRIDAY, 8.30AM:

POLICE have confirmed that a man has died in Friday morning’s accident onHenry Parkes Way near Manildra.

At this stage the man’s name and age havenot beenreleased.

Initial reports suggest the man’s car broke down about 10 kilometres west of Manildra and a male truck driver travelling in the same direction stopped to assist.

While the pair were attempting the move the car off the road they were hit by a truck travelling in the opposite direction.

Police believe the driver of the second truck may have been blinded by the lights of the other vehicles.

The driver of the car was killed while the truck driver assisting him sustained serious injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Orange Health Service for treatment.

The male driver of the second truck was also taken to Orange Health Service for mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

AN accident involving a car and a truck near Manildra has forced the closure of the closure of Henry Parkes Way.

The accident occured approximately 10 kilometres west of Manildra.

At this stage there are no details about the nature or severity of the accident andemergency services remain on site as investigations continue.

NSW Transport’s Live Traffic website is advising all motorists totravel between Parkes and Manildra via Eugowra Road and The Escort Way.
