United boosted by key signings

MURRAY United have bolstered their stocks by signing talented state league youngstersDanny Federico and Aykut Kucuktepe.

Federico is aversatile defender from Fawkner while Altona City’sKucuktepe will add some zip on a wing.

They look set to play against a besieged St Albans Saints in Melbourne on Sunday.

“I’m more than happy to sign for Murray United and also happy that I’m part of such a big club,”Kucuktepe said.

“I’m looking forward to the rest of the season but more importantly looking forward to Sunday’s game against StAlbans.

“I wanted to thank James for taking me on board for this season and also want to thank god for this opportunity.”

Zeljko Kuzman stepped down from his role as head coach of St Albans this week, citingirreconcilable differences with the committeeas the reason behind his departure.

Assistant coachesSteve Bebic and Theo Mihailidis have also left the club.

Kuzman’s record at Churchill Reserve after 15 matches yielded seven wins, three draws and five losses as well as a round six exit in the FFA Cup at the hands of Port Melbourne.

The Saints arefifth on the NPL2 West standings, five points behind conference leaderNorth Geelong Warriors.

Murray United coach James Coutts said the arrival ofFederico and Kucuktepe had been a boost for the club.

“They have trained a couple of times with us now and I believe they will certainly add to the group,” Coutts said.

“Danny is a defender who has composure on the ball and reads the game very well while ‘AK’ is an exciting attacking player and will hopefully give us something different going forward.

“Both are young, hungry players and fit the criteria of the type of players and people we want to bring to the club.

“They want to prove themselves at this level having been exposed to it before and I look forward to them being apart of the group.”

Murray United are coming off a disappointing 1-0 loss to Bendigo City at La Trobe.

The home teammissed apenalty in the 10thminute of extra time last weekend to deprive them a last-gaspequaliser.
